I had a mixed experience at Hotel Plaza Kavia. The location was incredibly convenient, close to the Colonial Zone, which I appreciated. However, I faced a couple of issues with my room, like outdated furniture and some maintenance problems. Overall, it was decent for a short stay, but definitely not without its flaws.

Rooms

I found my Standard Queen Room to be clean and quiet, but it felt very dated. The lack of USB outlets was a surprise. In one instance, I had to switch rooms because the first one smelled strongly of smoke, but the staff was accommodating.
Service
7.0
The staff I interacted with were friendly and willing to help, which was a plus during my stay. They accommodated my room change without issue.
Location
8.0
The hotel is ideally located, just a short walk from the Colonial Zone. I really appreciated how close everything was, especially given my late check-in.
Dining

I must say, the breakfast was pretty disappointing. Just one egg with half a slice of toast didn’t cut it, and the coffee was often cold. Definitely room for improvement here.
Facilities

While the hotel looked a bit run down externally and the furniture was outdated, the room itself was functional for a brief stay. I didn’t get to explore all the facilities, though.

7.2/10

Hotel Plaza Kavia had its moments, but overall, my stay was quite frustrating. While I appreciated the cold air conditioning, the cleanliness of the room left much to be desired. I encountered issues with the room's condition and the breakfast options were minimal, making my experience less enjoyable than I'd hoped.

Rooms
5.0
The first room I received was dirty and not cleaned at all, which prompted an immediate room change. Unfortunately, the replacement room did not meet my original booking request for a queen bed and instead had small bunk beds. This was uncomfortable and humiliating for a solo traveler like me.
Service
5.0
While the front desk staff were apologetic and helpful, I felt pressured into keeping a room that was inadequate. Even when promised a better room for the next day, no follow-up occurred. That really diminished my overall experience.
Location

The location of the hotel is excellent. It was conveniently close to the Colonial Zone, making it easy to explore the area. This aspect saved my trip somewhat.
Dining

I found the breakfast options disappointing. Just one egg with half a slice of toast and always cold coffee. This did not meet my expectations for a good start to the day.
Facilities

The hotel itself looked a bit run down and dated. Some facilities like the bathroom outlets were not functioning well, which added to my overall frustration.

However, the breakfast left much to be desired and the room wasn’t thoroughly cleaned when I arrived. Overall, I felt it was decent value for money but it certainly had its downsides.

My stay at Hotel Plaza Kavia in Santo Domingo was quite disappointing. While the location is fantastic and the air conditioning was cold, the room I was given was not what I paid for and was far from clean. The breakfast was also lackluster, with very minimal options. I really wanted to enjoy my vacation, but several issues made it tough.

I had a mixed experience at Hotel Plaza Kavia. While the location was fantastic (just a short stroll to the Colonial Zone), some aspects of the stay were disappointing. The breakfast selection left much to be desired, and I encountered issues with room cleanliness during my stay, but the staff were generally friendly and accommodating.

Rooms

The room I stayed in was clean but somewhat dated. Some furniture was outdated, and the bed linen needed an update. I also had to deal with a leaking bathroom from the room above. My initial room smelled like smoke, but the staff promptly moved me to another one, although it wasn't as advertised.

The service was a highlight; staff were friendly and eager to assist. They did their best to resolve the issues I faced with the rooms.

I was disappointed with the breakfast offerings. The options were limited, and I often found the coffee cold. It just didn't meet my expectations for a pleasant start to the day.
